Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains how Qootra LLC ("Qootra," "we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies across our website at qootra.com, the Qootra application, and related services (collectively, the "Services"). It should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we process personal information in general.
Table of Contents
1. Overview
Qootra takes a privacy-first approach to cookies: we set only the cookies that are strictly necessary to operate the Services, and we use cookieless, privacy-preserving measurement for analytics.
Because we set no advertising, retargeting, or optional analytics cookies, we do not currently show a cookie consent banner. If we ever introduce cookies that require consent, we will ask for your consent first, before those cookies are set, and make refusing as easy as accepting.
Some third-party services you interact with through Qootra, such as payment providers and the social media platforms you connect, may set their own cookies during those flows. Section 6 explains more.
2. What Cookies Are
Cookies are small text files that a website or service stores on your device. They can be "session" cookies, which last only while your browser is open, or "persistent" cookies, which remain until they expire or you delete them.
"Cookies or similar technologies" also covers things that behave like cookies, including:
• Local storage and session storage in your browser
• Pixels and tags
• Software development kits (SDKs) embedded in the application
• Server-side logs used for security and reliability
In this policy, "cookies" includes similar technologies where relevant.
3. Cookies We Set
The list below shows the cookies and similar technologies we currently set, why we set them, and how long they last.
3.1 Essential
Essential cookies are strictly necessary for the Services to work. They cannot be switched off because the product cannot function without them.
• Session cookie (better-auth.session_token): keeps you signed in securely. It is httpOnly, which means scripts cannot read it. Duration: 7 days, or until you sign out.
3.2 Security
When our infrastructure detects suspicious traffic, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) may set short-lived security cookies to distinguish real users from bots. Duration: transient, typically under 30 minutes.
3.3 Preferences
• Theme preference: we store your light/dark interface choice in your browser's local storage (a similar technology, not a cookie). Duration: until you clear your browser storage.
3.4 Analytics
None. Our product analytics are cookieless — see Section 4.
4. Analytics and Telemetry
We measure how the Services perform so we can fix problems and improve the product. We keep this as privacy-preserving as possible:
• Product analytics (in-app): we use PostHog in cookieless mode to understand feature usage inside the application. Cookieless measurement does not set cookies and does not use persistent identifiers on your device. You can opt out of product analytics in your account settings at any time.
• Error monitoring: Sentry helps us detect and fix errors. Error reports are technical and server-side; they do not set cookies in your browser.
• Logs: Axiom stores operational logs on our servers for security and reliability. No browser cookies are involved.
• Website measurement (qootra.com): our public website uses privacy-preserving, cookieless measurement only.
We do not use cookies for advertising, retargeting, or cross-site tracking, so we do not ask for cookie consent for analytics. If that ever changes, we will update this policy and request your consent before any such cookie is set.
5. What We Do Not Use
Qootra does not use:
• Third-party advertising or retargeting cookies
• Cross-site behavioral advertising
• Fingerprinting for advertising purposes
• Sale or sharing of personal information for advertising
If we ever want to use these technologies, we will update this policy, present a consent banner, and honor your choice before anything is set.
6. Third-Party Cookies
During certain flows, third parties may set cookies on their own domains. These are governed by those providers' own policies:
• Payments (Polar): when you check out or manage billing, Polar may set cookies on its domains to process and secure the payment.
• Social platforms: when you connect a social account (for example TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, X, Pinterest, Bluesky, Google Business Profile, or Tumblr), the platform's own authorization screen may set cookies on its domain. Those screens are controlled by the platform, not Qootra.
• Hosting and security (Cloudflare): may set security cookies when it challenges suspicious traffic.
Qootra does not control third-party cookies. Review the provider's policy for details.
7. Managing Your Choices
You have several ways to control cookies and similar technologies:
• In-product opt-out: you can turn off product analytics in your account settings at any time.
• Browser controls: all major browsers let you block or delete cookies and clear local storage. Look for "privacy" or "site settings" in your browser.
• Essential cookies: blocking them may break sign-in or core features of the application, because the Services cannot function without them.
Because we set only essential cookies, we do not currently display a cookie consent banner. If we ever add cookies that need consent, the banner will appear before those cookies are set.
8. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. Because Qootra does not run third-party tracking or advertising across websites, DNT has no practical effect on how the Services work.
Where the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal is legally recognized as a valid opt-out, we honor it.
9. Changes to This Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. When we do, we update the "Last updated" date above. If we introduce new cookies or similar technologies that require consent, we will update this policy, present choices where required, and never set those cookies before you have had the chance to decide.
